Week 13: March 26 - April 1, 2011

Well I've had a great time so far, how about you?

I was searching for some papers for my work, and found some old photo albums. Naturally I stopped searching and sat and looked at the photos. What great memories! And then my wonderful husband came up with the idea for this weeks miniature quilt theme, a photograph! I'll probably scan in a photo and use iron on transfer, but I'm not yet 100% positive. We shall see what a week brings!

Week 12: March 19 - 25, 2011

And another week comes and goes. Up for this week will be a fun (I hope) theme, and not super duper challenging. Who doesn't love OWLS? I was thinking use OWL fabric or OWL patterns or OWLS charms?

Whoo Whoo can guess what my theme for this week is?

If you've guessed OWLS you're right!

Cross Stitch Mini - Check!

Check this one off the list. :)

I just need to put the finishing touches on the hand-stitched binding. Measuring in at 6"x12", I'll be giving it to my mom for Mothers Day.

New AAQI Quilt! Gecko Gorgeous

I'm officially behind with all the things I wanted to do. This is what having the flu gets me. :( ARGH!! Three days of not moving from my bed and not even caring what's on Netflix. I've just started being able to sit up without wanting to lose all the food I've eaten (not much!) I was hoping to have the last 11 Boomerang Blocks done by this past weekend, but that's not happening. I'll hope to have them done by the end of this week. So Boomerang partners - be on the lookout! :)

Just finished it up last night. I hate binding! Took me forever to find a good color that would go with this mini. Finally decided on using up some more of my scraps - I think this brown is left over from when the Rag Shop was still in business. :) I love to hoard my fabric.

This is my March contribution to the Quilt A Month Club at the AAQI. I've had the top started since very early this month, but just finished it last night. Sapped all my energy, but it's done! :)

Week 11: March 12 - 18, 2011

One of the other crafts that I do is cross stitch. I really love to see what I can make with little x's and /'s. This weeks challenge will be to include some kind of cross-stitch.

I'm thinking about either making a little cross stitch piece for a miniature quilt, or to quilt a miniature using x's and /'s. Still not sure, but it'll be neat whatever I pick.

Hexagons.. a new obsession

I found something to do on my lunch break! English Paper Piecing!! This one little flower took me over 2 hours! No one wants to see the back of it, but it's ok - I'll get better the more I practice.

Wonder how many flowers I can get done on lunch now?? Now I've got a great portable obsession. If we can still afford to go on a vacation, I'll have something to do in the car ride.

Other New WIPS and a new quilt journal

Forgot to post these!

I got a nice cheap journal at Barnes and Noble for under $4! This is my new quilt journal. So now instead of me keeping records of all my quilts on looseleaf paper, I'll have a journal to put them in! So excited, and the price couldn't be beat!

My weekend warrior projects - not quite finished, so they're my WIPS.

So far, this is part of a table runner. I only used 2 FQ's for this, and I still have 2 more FQ's to use. Each of the tumbler blocks is 3" tall, made from my own drawing. I have to finish sewing the other cut tumbler blocks and sew the two halves together then quilt and bind. It's a little over 21" at the widest point, and when it's done it'll be about 60" long.

Playing with my scrap bag! I emptied out my strips that were cut at 1.5" and started piecing this! No idea what it's going to be, but when it's done I'll have used up at least 3 of the plastic shoe tub sizes of scraps. Any ideas on what I should make with it?

And... for a swap that I'm hosting on Quilt With Us - the Four Elements. I don't know if I'm going to stick with this one or do something different... one of my all time favorite patterns - the Dresden Plate. It'll be hand appliqued to a background, probably a dark green, and the center circle will also be a dark green. Whatever the background color I choose, the center circle will match. I took the picture on one of those 3D foam boards that is white on one side and black on the other. I kind of like the black though.. hmmmm decisions, decisions!

Week 10: March 5 - 11, 2011

We've done it! We're at week 10! And we have 10 miniature quilts (hopefully) to show for it. I'm really enjoying this challenge so far, and if there's anyone following along or playing along with me, that you're enjoying it too.

So let's really have fun this week. Our new theme is: SPIRAL
